Sony Xperia XA1 Plus Smartphone With 5.5″ FHD Display & 3,430 mAh battery Launched
The Sony Xperia XA1 Plus is now official. The company announced it alongside the new Xperia XZ1 and the XZ1 Compact. All the specs of the smartphone pretty much remain the same as we had reported earlier today. It is powered an octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 SoC and comes with 4GB RAM. However, in South America and the US, you will have to settle for the 3GB variant. In fact, it looks like the people buying it in the U.S. won’t get the side-mounted fingerprint scanner as well.
As mentioned earlier today, it comes with a 3430 mAh battery along with Qnovo adaptive charging and Pump Express+ 2.0 quick charging support. In terms of the camera, we are looking at a 23MP, f/2.4 shooter on the back, whereas, on the front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter. The smartphone will be available to purchase from Autumn 2017 in Black, Blue, Gold, and Pink color options.
Earlier – Sony launched the Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra earlier this year. Both the smartphones were sort of decent offerings from the company, with the Xperia XA1 being more of an entry-level device. And if you were not happy with both of them and wanted something in the middle like a mid-ranger, then it looks like you are in for a treat. Yes, we now have a new report which says that the company is looking to launch a new device.
According to the source, it looks like Sony could be launching the new Xperia XA1 Plus smartphone at IFA 2017 trade show, which is currently going down in Berlin. From what it looks like, the Xperia XA1 Plus is expected to bridge the gap between the Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra. For those of you who don’t know, the Xperia XA1 has a 5″ display, whereas the Xperia XA1 Ultra has a 6-inch display and now, if the leaks are something to go by, then the Xperia XA1 Plus is expected to sport a 5.5-inch display which sits right in the middle at the sweet spot for most people.
The source also shows a couple of renders which are embedded below. Now, as far as the specs of this smartphone are concerned, as mentioned earlier, the Xperia XA1 Plus is expected to sport a 5.5-inch FHD display on the front, which means that it will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Internally, this is expected to be powered by the same processor as the Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra, i.e. the octa-core MediaTek Helio P20. And in terms of RAM, we are looking at 4GB and it is also expected to sport 32GB of internal storage.
The battery on this smartphone is, however, expected to be the largest of what we have seen from Sony so far. It looks like the Xperia XA1 Plus will sport a 3430mAh battery, which is obviously larger than the 2700mAh found inside the Xperia XA1 Ultra, but it is also more than the 3230 mAh battery found in the Xperia XZ Premium. Now, coming to the optics, it looks like the Xperia XA1 Plus will sport an 8MP front-facing selfie shooter, whereas, at the back, it looks like there will be a 23MP sensor. And in terms of the software, we can expect this to be running on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the Android 8.0 Oreo probably arriving later this year.
As mentioned earlier, we are expecting Sony to announce this at IFA 2017 trade show, however, we’ll have to wait and see if that happens. Also, we don’t have any info regarding the pricing of the same and its availability in North America is also a huge question mark.
