Asus Launches Six Zenfone 4 Smartphones with Dual Cameras & Android Nougat



Now, the company has officially unveiled the all-new Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie, Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro, Zenfone 4 Max, and Zenfone 4 Max Pro smartphones at an event held in Taiwan. While the Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 Max smartphones come with a rear facing dual-lens camera, the Zenfone 4 Selfie smartphones offer a front facing dual-lens camera. All the four devices feature physical home button on the front with an integrated fingerprint sensor.

Asus Zenfone 4

The Zenfone 4 comes with a metal frame and glass back body. It includes the iconic concentric circle finish as seen on the earlier launched Zenfione devices. On the front is a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super IPS+ with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the top. It comes in two variants powered by the newly announced Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 630 octa-core processors and comes coupled with Adreno 512 and Adreno 508 GPU’s respectively. The device comes with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat based Zen UI 4.0 out of the box.
There is a 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup on the rear with f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis OIS, and dual tone LED flash. For selfies, there is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens. It sports dual speakers for stereo sound output and dual internal mics with Asus noise reduction technology. The Zenfone 4 measures 155.36 x 75.24 x 7.7 mm and weighs 165 grams. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio port, and USB Type-C 2.0 port. It is backed by a 3,300mAh battery and supports dual SIM dual standby.

Asus Zenfone 4 Pro

The Zenfone 4 Pro also comes in the same form factor as Zenfone 4 but packs flagship specifications. As seen in the leaks, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The 5.5-inch display on the Zenfone 4 Pro comes with AMOLED panel and is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass. It packs 6GB of RAM and comes in 64GB and 128GB storage options. There is also a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage additionally up to 2TB. Unlike the Zenfone 4, the Zenfone 4 Pro runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based ZenUI 4.0.
The dual camera setup on this device sports 12MP and 16MP sensors and offers 2X optical zoom. It includes f/1.8 aperture, 4-axis OIS, dual tone LED flash. On the front is an 8MP IMX319 sensor with f/1.9 aperture and 87.4-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calls. It includes the same Hi-Fi dual speakers as seen on the Zenfone 4 but comes with triple internalmics. The device is kept powered on by a 3,600mAh battery that also supports 18W fast charging. It measures 156.9 x 75.6 x 7.6 mm and weighs 175 grams.

Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie

The Zenfone 4 Selfie comes with less powerful specifications when compared to other newly launched devices. It comes with a unibody design and sports a 5.5-inch HD (1280 × 720 pixels) IPS display with a 2.5D curved glass laid on top. Under the hood is the 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It includes 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage that can be expandable up to 128GB via a MicroSD card slot. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat based Zen UI 4.0 out of the box and supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid slot.
In terms of optics, there is a 16MP sensor on the rear with PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. As the name suggests, the company is more focused on offering better selfie experience with the Zenfone 4 Selfie. There is a 20MP + 8MP dual camera setup with f/2.0 aperture, 120-degree wide-angle lens, and LED flash. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and measures 7.85 mm thick. On the connectivity front, the device offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.

Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro

Just the Zenfone 4 Pro, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro also comes with 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by the Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. It got the 5-magnet Hi-Fi speakers with NXP Smart Amp and also the dual internal microphone with Asus Noise Reduction Technology. The device measures 154.02 x 74.83 x 6.85 mm and weighs 147 grams.
Talking about the rear camera, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro sports a 16MP sensor with PDAF, 80-degree wide-angle lens, and dual LED flash. On the front is a 12MP dual-lens camera with f/1.8 aperture, 6P lens, 3-axis EIS, and 120-degree wide-angle lens. Both the front and rear cameras can record videos in 4K resolution. The 3,000mAh non-removable battery on this device only supports 5V/2A (10W) fast charging technology. Connectivity options on the Selfie Pro include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.

Asus Zenfone 4 Max & Zenfone 4 Max Pro

Unlike the  Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 Selfie, the Zenfone 4 Max shares the same design with its Pro variant. Apart from the processor and cameras, both the Zenfone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Max Pro also comes with the similar specifications. As seen with the earlier launched Zenfone Max smartphones, the new Zenfone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Max Pro also comes with a huge 5,000mAh battery. It should easily give more than a day long battery life and is mentioned to support 5V/2A (10W) fast charging technology.
Talking about the other specifications, both the devices come with a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS 2.5D curved glass display. Under the hood, the devices include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430/425 processor and 2GB/3GB of RAM. Coming to the camera department, the Zenfone 4 Max sports 13MP + 5MP dual rear cameras with EIS and an 8MP front camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens. On the other hand, the Zenfone 4 Max Pro packs 16MP + 5MP dual rear cameras with EIS and another 16MP camera on the front for selfies. The devices measure 154 x 76.9 x 8.9 mm and weighs 181 grams.

Pricing and Availability

The Asus ZenFone 4 will be available in Midnight Black, Moonlight White, and Mint Green color options and will the pricing starts from $399. With flagship specifications, the Asus Zenfone 4 Pro will start retailing from $599 and comes in Pure Black and Moonlight White color options. While the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie comes in Deepsea Black, Mint Green, Rose Pink, and Sunlight Gold colors, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro will be available Deepsea Black, Sunlight Gold, and Rouge Red color options. The Zenfone 4 Selfie and Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro will be on sale starting from $279 and $379 respectively.
Asus is yet to reveal the pricing of the Zenfone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Max Pro smartphones. They will be available in Black, Gold, and Pink colors. As of now, there is no information about the exact date of availability of all these smartphones.
